From "I'm Trying" to "I'm Balancing": Confessions of a Busy Bride-to-Be
Hey there, my fabulous fitness companions!
Remember last month when I was celebrating my ability to hold a plank for a full minute? Well, guess what? Two months into the Bridal Fitness Coach program, and not only have I not thrown in the towel, but I'm also making steady progress on my fitness journey. But let me tell you, this month has put my commitment to the test!
Between year-end cases at work, MBA finals, and let's not forget this whole getting-fit-for-the-wedding thing, I'm juggling more balls than a circus performer! The end of the year always brings its own special brand of chaos, doesn't it?
But fear not, fellow brides-to-be, for I have strategies to share, courtesy of my fitness guru, Tammy:
1. Scheduling is Your Best Friend: I've started blocking out "fitness appointments" in my calendar, just like I would for a client meeting. It's harder to skip when it's in writing!
2. Stress-Busting Workouts: Tammy introduced me to the joy (read: pain) of HIIT workouts. They're quick, effective, and perfect for those days when I'm too stressed to think straight. Nothing like burpees to make you forget about that looming deadline!
3. Mindful Indulgence: Instead of swearing off all treats during seasonal gatherings (because let's be real, that's not happening), I'm learning to enjoy small portions of my favorites without guilt. It's all about balance, right?
4. Sleep is Not for the Weak: Turns out, getting enough sleep is crucial for fitness and stress management. Who knew? (Besides Tammy, and probably every health expert ever.)
5. Buddy System: Zoe and I have started holding each other accountable. Nothing like a 6 AM text saying "Did you work out yet?" to get you moving!
Oh, and one more thing! Tammy's encouraged me to start tracking my steps. My goal is to hit 5,000 steps a day. Between court appearances and office pacing while I think through cases, I'm hoping this is achievable! Who knew my habit of walking while dictating briefs would come in handy for something other than driving my colleagues crazy?
Now, for the progress report you've all been waiting for: I'm thrilled to share that I've lost 8 pounds since starting this journey! That's about a pound a week, which Tammy assures me is a healthy and sustainable rate. The Bridal Fitness Coach app has been a game-changer for tracking my food intake. And can we talk about the recipes? They're actually delicious! Who knew healthy eating could involve more than just sad salads? I've become obsessed with their protein-packed breakfast smoothies and those 15-minute dinner recipes are perfect for my crazy schedule.
It hasn't always been easy, especially with the holiday season in full swing, but seeing the numbers on the scale go down and feeling my energy levels go up is incredibly motivating. Plus, I swear my favorite work blazer is fitting a bit looser these days!
As we navigate this busy month, I want to hear from you! How are you balancing your end-of-year commitments with your fitness goals? Any tips for staying motivated when your schedule goes haywire?
Remember, we're all in this together. Whether you're pulling all-nighters for work, cramming for finals, or just trying to make it to 2025 in one piece, let's keep cheering each other on. Don't forget to use #BridalFitnessDiaries to share your triumphs (and your "oops" moments – we all have them!).
Just remember, in the case of Page v. Busy Season Burnout, we're all aiming for a favorable ruling. May the scales of justice (and our bathroom scales) tip in our favor as we balance those year-end cases with our fitness goals!
XOXO,
Page
